Social media problems

Posts that fail silently: why it happens and how to catch it

Expired connections, rejected media and platform limits stop posts going out. Here's how to spot each one before your audience notices the gap.

The worst social media failure is the one nobody notices: a week of scheduled posts that never went out because a connection expired on Tuesday.

The usual causes

  • Expired or revoked connections: platforms end app connections on their own schedule, and when you change a password or remove a page role.
  • Media the platform rejects: wrong size, length or format for that network.
  • Text that's too long: captions over the network's limit.
  • Temporary limits and outages: rate limits or the platform being down.

Catch it early

  • Check your connections page weekly, or better, get alerts.
  • Use the right sizes for each network, and check against a size guide before you design.
  • Look at what actually published, not what you scheduled.

How AeroReply catches it for you

  • Automatic retries: temporary failures are retried up to 5 times, with growing gaps (details).
  • Plain-language reasons: each failure says what happened, such as reconnect, shorten or retry, with a one-tap fix.
  • Connection alerts: an hourly check flags broken connections, and warns you before a connection that can't renew itself expires (fix a disconnected account).
  • Automatic renewal for Instagram and Threads connections before they expire.
