Turn one idea into a week of posts

How to split a single long-form piece across every channel without sounding repetitive.

Kenji WatanabeJul 15, 20261 min read

One good idea is enough for a week if you change the shape rather than the substance.

Start with the longest form

Write the full argument once. Everything else is a compression of it.

Compress in three directions

  • Thread: sequential beats, one claim per line.
  • Carousel: one idea per frame, a payoff on the last.
  • Short video: the single sharpest claim, said out loud.

Change the opening, never the point

Each channel needs its own first line. Keep the body, and write a new opening for each channel.

A worked example

A long post about pricing mistakes becomes a five-post thread with one mistake each, a six-slide carousel with the fix on the last slide, and a 30-second video about the most common mistake. Paste the long version into Repurpose to get the formats as drafts, then edit the first line for each channel.
