Social media problems

You can't prove social media works? Measure what matters

Likes don't pay bills. Track the few numbers that connect social to customers: conversations, leads, clicks and reply time.

Oct 18, 20261 min read

69% of social marketers feel more pressure to prove ROI, and only 37% find it easy to tie social to business results (HubSpot, 2026, vendor data). The fix is measuring fewer, better numbers.

The four numbers that matter

  • Conversations started: DMs and comments that ask about buying.
  • Leads captured: contacts from DMs, AutoDM flows and your Link in Bio page.
  • Link clicks: which links and posts send people to your site or offer.
  • Reply time: how fast you answer. Speed is what turns conversations into sales.

Then the supporting numbers

  • Engagement rate per post, to see what content lands (free calculator).
  • Posting consistency: did you post your planned number this week?
  • Follower growth: useful, but it lags everything else.

Tag what converts

When a conversation turns into a sale, mark it. After a month you'll know which posts and replies bring customers, not just likes.

Report it monthly

  • One page: the four numbers, last month vs this month.
  • Two posts that worked, and why.
  • One change for next month.

How AeroReply measures it

Analytics shows delivery, best times and post performance. Link in Bio and short links count every click, contacts and the pipeline track leads and deals, and recurring reports land in your inbox weekly or monthly. Add UTM tags to every link with the free UTM builder.
